Phog refers to Forrest Clare "Phog" Allen, who was the coach of the Kansas Jayhawks from 1919-1956. During his playing career at KU he played for James Naismith, the founder of the game of basketball. Over his 50 year college coaching career he won 3 national championships and had a college record at the time of his retirement of 746 wins.
